Hey Belles&Beaux!

I could write we are all incredibly gorgeous without hair products and makeup (and it wouldn't be a lie), but it's always so much fun to get really glam anyway. Some of us- like this blogger here- are not so talented with beauty products beyond the mascara wand and flat iron though.

Luckily there are so many fantastically talented HMUAs like hair stylist, Megan Blackmon, from Chicago. And not only is she an awesome stylist, she only uses organic products.

How long have you been a hair stylist?

I've been a stylist for over seven years.

How did you get started in the industry?

I got started in the industry by interning while I was at school and working as an apprentice for a French salon. Then my first job was for a Vidal Sassoon Salon. I worked a few places after that and now I am working at two salons. One is Salon Heaven & Spa and the other is Sorelle Chicago.

Why did you decide to only use organic colour and hair products?

I use organic products because I believe in healthy hair and healthy living. Granted, I sometimes don't get enough sleep and love to eat French fries lol but I care initially about how the hair is going to last after a color service or how it will react to heat. I believe healthy hair is beautiful hair at any age.

What are some of your favourite products?

Soma, Moroccan Oil, Pureology, and Chi color.

What has been the most fun show or photo shoot?

My most fun shoot was for DePaul Univeristy. It was for UNICEF; it was a fashion show with fifteen girls and I did each girls hair in about ten minutes! To see them shine during the show made me feel that I made a difference.
